Save money and improve productivity by investing in good gear!
When working in freezer, cold storage, and cold chain logistics environments, hands are often the first parts of the body to feel the cold. This can reduce productivity and affects how long staff can work in the freezers between breaks. Smart managers know the importance of investing in good gloves. However, not all gloves are created equal.
A customer came to us, because they had spent quite a lot of money on freezer gloves from a national supplier, but they were getting less than two weeks out of a pair of freezer gloves. Is this the best we can hope for? they asked. We were convinced that we could do better, and that the Fortdress HUSKY Freezer glove would give them a much better experience.
Three months later, the Fortdress HUSKY gloves are still going strong, and these guys are handling boxes of frozen product as well as driving forklifts. Check out the photos below! The extrapolated daily rate on these gloves, means that they are comparing favourably with cheap polycotton gloves cost-wise, while still providing protection and warmth in -30c freezers.
Issue:
Customers previous gloves after just over 1 week’s work – worn out, cold and unusable.
Our gloves, Fortdress HUSKY:
Still providing warmth and in good condition after three months – just shows the importance of choosing the right gloves for your teams tasks.
Key Considerations:
When looking into what gloves to purchase in your freezers, there are many factors to consider- not just initial cost.
One key point is whether your gloves are rated and certified to withstand the sub-zero temperatures. This will ensure that the gloves can be worn for extended periods of time without letting the cold in or significantly breaking down. All our Fortdress freezer gloves are rated and certified to EN 511:2016, which is the standard that a pair of work gloves must meet if it is to offer protection against convective cold and contact cold.
Another key point to look at is “Lifetime-Cost”. While the Fortdress gloves may be slightly more than other options on the market, this is far outweighed by the length of time these last. In this particular case these gloves were lasting over 12x Longer results in a 700% cost saving on freezer gloves in that 3 month period!
