Choosing Winter Uniform? What to consider…

Winter weather can make working outside challenging, especially when it comes to keeping staff safe from the elements. That’s why it’s important to ensure your staff have the right hi vis winter uniform to keep them safe in harsh winter conditions.

In this post, we’ll cover the key factors to consider when choosing hi-vis winter uniform for your staff.

Keeping your staff warm & dry

The first thing to consider when choosing hi-vis winter uniform is the type of work your staff are doing. For example, if they’re working outdoors or in a cold environment, you will want to choose a uniform with insulated layers to keep them warm. Fleece jumpers, hoodies and jackets are the most common outer layers to provide warmth- we have a great range of styles and design variations to match your uniform needs. Thermal undergarments are another option to consider when you staff may be doing physical work, and just need a thinner thermal layer for warmth.

If they’re working in a wet environment, rain jackets or waterproof hi-vis clothing to keep them dry is a must. Whether you are after a fleece lined rain jacket, or an outer shell mesh lined jacket there are a range of options to suit your needs.

Visibility in low-light conditions

With the shorter daylight hours during the winter seasons, choosing the correct compliant winter uniform is vital. In any low-light conditions where staff will be working in the early mornings/ evenings it is recommended to have winter uniform with Day/ Night compliance. Look for uniform with reflective tape that is certified to Standard AS/NZS 4602.1:2011.

For greater flexibility in winter uniform such as wet weather gear and jackets, look for garments with segmented tape which allows for more movement in the garments.

Thermal Headwear

A lot of body heat can be lost through the head therefore thermal headwear is another important consideration when choosing your winter uniform.

Beanies and neckwarmers are the most popular to provide warmth to the wearers head. Our most popular beanie is the Double Knit Thermal Lined beanie. Its’ double knit construction provides a great, comfortable fit to all head sizes, and the thermal lining provides that extra warmth for those cold mornings. It is also another great opportunity to add your company logo and display your brand on the front of the beanie
